World War II came to a close and anew era meant renewed growth. Even before the
effects of the baby-boom were felt, the parish bought the Greenwald house on Creedmoor, next to the school driveway, and used
it as additional housing for the Sisters of Charity.
By 1951, school enrollment reached 1,171 and 1,000 more families
were enrolled in the parish. The race to provide additional space for the grade school was on. In 1951 the new church basement
was partitioned into four classrooms and an assembly hall. The classrooms were filled to capacity when the new term began
in September of that year.
Two years later, in 1953, more classrooms were added. With the completion of the "new"
church in 1939, the old church, on the ground floor of the original school building, had been turned into a gym. In 1953,
some remodeling work transformed the gym into four classrooms, accommodating 175 students. Enrollment was now beyond 1300
students.
It was at that point that Bishop John Deardon established another parish. The formal decree of erection
was issued June 30, 1954. This third offspring parish from Resurrection was dedicated as St. Pius X Parish. Some 30 families
from Resurrection were merged with an equal number each from St. Bernard and from St. Catherine parishes to form a new congregation.
