Parishioners seemed paralyzed on the cold afternoon of January 21, 1955, when they learned that their
pastor had died while battling pneumonia. The announcement was made in school that morning, and children ran home with the
news during their lunch break. Father Quinn had been the only pastor they had known, and many still carried with them the
memory of that first Mass inside the Brookline Boulevard storeroom in 1909. Resurrection parish paid tribute to Father Quinn
and his many years of faithful service by unveiling and dedicating a bas-relief bronze memorial plaque on November 27, 1955.
That plaque still hangs in the church.
