Who among us is not impressed and emotionally moved when the Knights of Columbus, in all their regalia, form an honor guard for church dignitaries on special occasions? But this is not their only service to the Church. The Knights are committed to supporting various causes and services around the world, and while they raise millions of dollars in the service of the Universal Catholic Church, it is our neighborhood Order of Knights of Columbus that provides service and support to our parish and community at the local level. The Knights of Columbus donate to the Church of the Resurrection, Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Brookline Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, Ladies of Charity and Brookline Regional Catholic School. Providing insurance, student loans, scholarships and support for worthwhile programs are other ways that they live out the Christian message to care for those in need.
