Musical prayer is an integral part of worship. It
is one of the key elements that shape our parish’s experience of liturgy. Good liturgical celebrations foster and nourish
our faith; they help to form us. Music is one of the most powerful tools at our disposal to make people feel more deeply what
liturgical action is all about. The gathering song before Mass creates a spirit of community and festivity; the Gloria is
a prayer of praise. At the Offertory, we bring our gifts to the altar of God in song. As we approach the altar to receive
Communion, we sing our love song telling Jesus how happy we are to be able to be receiving Him into our hearts, and as the
priest leaves the altar and walks down the aisle, we can’t contain our joy at having spent the hour with our God; we
burst into song. Music gets us in the mood to celebrate the Eucharist, raises us up throughout the Mass, and sends us out
into the world to carry the Good News to everyone we meet during the coming week.
The parish wishes to thank all those who help us to make good music at the Church of the Resurrection.
Because of you, we are inspired to attain full conscious and active participation at the liturgies by raising our hearts and
voices to God in sung prayer.
