Over thirty years ago, a group of young, energetic
parishioners got together and formed a “folk group.” The first folk mass was celebrated in November of 1970. The
group dedicated itself to providing sacred music for the Saturday evening Masses, and at times, did concerts around the city
for special occasions singing in numerous churches, visiting hospitals, and performing at various civic programs. They called
themselves The Peacemakers. Today the group is still going strong. They number eighteen members, some of whom are
originals. They use their voices and instruments to lead us closer to God by using music that is electrifying and spiritually
relevant.
The parish wishes to thank the members of
the Peacemakers for their years of devoted service to making the Saturday evening liturgy an experience of heart
and soul, sung in contemporary style.
