FOCUS ON OUTREACH: HOMELESS WOMEN
Bethlehem Haven
The mission of Bethlehem Haven is to provide a continuum of care for homeless women that leads toward self-sufficiency.
Our core values are Hospitality, Compassion, Integrity and Empowerment. Our vision is to end homelessness through collaboration
with the community and the people we serve.
Miryam’s Place
Since i987, Miryam’s Place has been dedicated to serving homeless women with mental illness in Western Pennsylvania.
Having merged with Bethlehem Haven on July 1, 2007, Miryam’s can now respond to the ever growing needs and challenges
faced by the women they serve on a daily basis. This merger allows the new Bethlehem Haven to offer the expanded continuum
of care that these women 0eed to become self-sufficient.
With kindness
and compassion and through a program of continuing care, Miryam’s now a program of Bethlehem Haven,
provides the time and resources homeless women need to renew their spirits recover their self-esteem, and rebuild their lives.
MIRYAM’S DAY SHELTER/TREATMENT PROGRAM
Each day — every day — Miryam’s Day Program offers safe sanctuary, nutritious meals, personal care
access, and community-building activities for unsheltered homeless women. Program services include individualized needs assessment,
case management, crisis intervention and comprehensive mental health and medical care.
RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM
Miryam’s
30-bed residential program provides graduated step-up treatment housing and comprehensive support services. Each housing level
is designed to increase resident self-care and develop personal independence. Miryam’s four treatment housing levels
include:
- The Safe Haven Program which provides immediate
shelter for women whose self care is so profoundly limited they are at risk for harm.
- The Specialized Residence
Program: a low-demand, low-intensity residential program for women in early recovery.
- The First-Step Program:
step-up residential programming for women with increasing self-care skills
- The Next-Step Program
a supportive transitional housing program for housing ready women.
All women graduating from residential programming are eligible for and encouraged to participate in aftercare follow-up
services.
AFTERCARE PROGRAM
Miryam’s pioneering Aftercare Program provides homeless
prevention and community support services to 60 women. Outreach programs include mental health and medical care advocacy,
supportive case management, career-life planning, therapeutic activities and peer support. The Aftercare Program’s objective
is to assist women in community reintegration.
