VOLUNTEERING
You may not always be able to give money, especially in these economic times,
but the gift of your time and service is greatly needed by outreach ministries. As Lent draws near consider if some of your
time can be better used by volunteering to help others and ask the Holy Spirit for His guidance.
Through the Bereavement Ministry Resurrection Church reaches out to
the grieving family with prayer and support. Members of the group pray with the family at the funeral home, attend the funeral
liturgy, send sympathy, Christmas and Easter cards, reach out through phone calls, provide pamphlets in Church, plan the memorial
Liturgy for All Souls' Day and have periodic days of reflection for the bereaved. To further support the bereaved family
we would like to organize teams to serve a luncheon after the funeral. To join the bereavement ministry or to volunteer to
serve the funeral luncheons, call the Rectory at 412-563-4400

Through the Ladies of Charity Resurrection Church reaches out to the poor, sick
and homebound with prayer and support. Their charitable activities include the Angel Tree at Christmas time for the poor of
the community, making and distributing prayer shawls to the sick, regularly visiting our parishioners in nursing homes, sending
cards to the elderly, homebound and sick, phoning the people on our prayer list and assisting in the special social ministry
collections. Their spiritual ministry includes praying for and with the sick and arranging the annual Communal Anointing of
the Sick. To become a Lady of Charity and assist in these and other works of charity as they develop, call the Rectory at

St
Vincent de Paul Society
Through the St Vincent de Paul Society Resurrection
Church reaches out to the poor of the
community of Brookline, not only our church.
It responds to all calls for assistance, providing food, clothing, shelter, furniture and emergency funds. They support the
pamphlet ministry of the Bereavement team and the activities of our Ladies of Charity. Occasionally they need the use of a
truck and some strong arms. To join or offer assistance to the St. Vincent de Paul Society the Rectory at 412-563-4400
Donations An envelope for
donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society is included with your church envelops for the months that have five Sundays. In this
way we can all participate in their ministry to the poor.

LUNCH BAG MINISTRY
Every second Wednesday after the
9 AM Mass a group meets to make lunches for Operation Safety Net, which are distributed by the medical teams that go out to
the homeless. It costs about $7O to make the 50 lunches. We have had donations of money and food items for the lunches and
the ministry is self-sustaining. Come when you can and bring a loaf of bread or some snack crackers or treats for the lunches.
CLOTHES CLOSET MINISTRY
(new ministry)
Used clothing is collected at Brookline
Presbyterian Church for the people who come to the Preschool Program and the Food Bank. Help is needed to unpack, sort and
arrange the clothing. If you are willing to help let Bernice know at 412-343-0937 and we will arrange a
day when as a group we could help. Hangers and plastic bags are needed.
MIRYAM’S PLACE (new ministry)
This ministry to homeless women is
looking for organizations willing to prepare a supper for the women, come and help serve it and visit with them.
If you would be interested in this ministry let Bernice know at 412-343-0937. Once we have some
volunteers we can work out the logistics: where to prepare it and who would deliver and serve. Donations to cover the cost
of the meal would be welcome.
